I turned off the TV once Wolfsburg Equalized against Dortmund...Sue Me

I did.

When that referee, who I am sure got paid, blew for a penalty and gave Wolfsburg a penalty in the ninetieth minute, I couldn't believe it. To give such a soft call enraged me, and I just had to turn the television and head out to take care of some business.

Not in three million years did I think Dortmund were actually going to score the winner very deep into injury time.

This was a great match of football to watch. Two very good teams, who play nice passing football. Dortmund came to attack, as that has been the tactic that has served them so well whilst Wolfsburg used their more balanced approach with greater emphasis on their skilled wingers. But for the first half, there was only one team in this game and that was Dortmund.

Gundogan hitting the bar, close chances, and just how Dortmund dominated, they should have been up by three. But as it is in football, that team that has all those chances, usually end up losing. However, Reus had other ideas and from a mistake by Wolfsburg, Mkhitaryan played him in and just like three cool cucumbers his great first touch allowed him to go round the keeper and slot it home. Dortmund were ahead and they deserved to be.

Then in the second half, was where the game became more even. Wolfsburg came back in and were showing why they came second last season. The ball was moved around better with greater intent, and they were eager to get that cheddar. But Dortmund held on, with some great defending. Ginter, Schmelzer, Piszkek and even Subotic were pretty resolute at the back, defending a lot better than we've been accustomed to seeing of Dortmund. It looked like  hard fought 1-0 victory, and then the referee looked like he had other plans.

That was not a penalty. I'm not sure what it says in the rule book, but if a match as close as this happens, you need to be more than sure that a foul is bad enough to be a penalty. This isn't Kaiserslautern against 1860 Munich. It's the top teams in the Bundesliga who are trying to close the gap on Bayern. So when the ref blew for that foul, I could not believe it. Rodriguez slotted it home, and that was it....a draw, when in fact looking at the totality of the match, Dortmund deserved to take the three points.

Just my luck eh? I get back home, and I see my twitter feed and to my absolute disbelief, Kagawa won very deep into added-on time. It's not a goal that Dortmund will look back on in saying that was crucial in them winning the title, because Bayern will win it, but it just shows the incredible fight there is in this team. Wolfsburg did not have their best game, but they still pushed Dortmund all the way and showed why they have an amazing record in their home stadium. For Dortmund to win in a very difficult place, in such a manner, showing the fightback after conceding a penalty that was unfair against them shows that this team has both the skill and the mentality to do really well this season.
