The Zillage aka Ozil....It's time to STAND UP for the Arsenal
Arsenal can do it. This is by no means mission impossible. Won't be a walk in six parks, but if Arsenal are on their game, and play the perfect strategy, then they can get the G's needed to progress. As well as the entire team has to play, with injuries to the Ox and Chez...it's up to none other than the Zillage to show up and lead his fellow brothers to the Promised Land.
I've been on the fence on putting Ozil as a world class player. He has the skills, the brain and is always on the cusp of me giving him that title. Then he has a run of games where he is literally invisible. When he is seen, he strolls back to defend and throws his hands up in annoyance when he loses the ball. That is not the kind of player that anyone would label a world class talent.
Recently though, you've been seeing Ozil on his good side. His dribbling, playmaking and even notching up some G's. All this has been done in the absence of Chez, who was a behemoth for Arsenal last season. So that is where people have pointed the finger at me as proof that the Zillage has to be seen as world class. Well, sorry, but not so fast. The opposition he's done this has not been that great, and the matches have not had the level of pressure that will be cooking in tonight's match.
This is a huge match for Arsenal, and this is an opportunity for Ozil to prove his doubters (moi) wrong. I want to see him take charge of this game and dominate. It's what I wanted for Mata, but he didn't really take charge in the way that he should. Everything has to go through him, and he needs to constantly feed balls into Giroud. I don't want to see the Zillage who just lets the game pass him by, I want to see that extremely clever footballer who manages to find that space between two solids and is running this game. This is Olympiacos that he's going up against, they don't have anyone of note on their team, so the Zillage should be able to gracefully evade tackles and really force the issue.
It's the kind of game that can raise your status. People don't think Arsenal will do it. Arsenal fans themselves don't think they will do it. The Zillage can set the record straight and perhaps convince me that he should be considered a world class talent.
