Some Respite for Moyes, as United Keep up Hopes for FOURTH
Moyes has been given a bit of breathing space, as his United boys got their revenge on Swansea, who kicked their butts out of the FA Cup. It was a clear and commanding victory and it STILL keeps United within touching distance of fourth, which is the highest they can get this season. So does this mean that United can somehow out of nowhere beat Everton and Liverpool to that finishing line?
United, at home, on the attack looked like the hungry United of hold. You saw the desire, imagination and creativity. Lead by Januzaj, United looked like the team that were a super force at home. Kagawa as well showed why he is Japan's golden son. He weaved, moved and created like the talented footballer that he is.
Welbeck again scored, and showed his striker's instinct. So WHY oh WHY, can't United play like this every week? More importantly, why can't they put teams to the blade more often like they did to Swansea? Doing this for one game just won't cut it, if they want to keep up with Everton and Liverpool. Everton are REFUSING to let up, and unlike United, they have a super record at home. Liverpool in the meanwhile have the asset of having a superstar player and as long as they have him, they will always be in that mix. The only way United can compete is by winning ALL their home games. No space for any losses, and also, no space for chopping and changing. Moyes needs to pick a team and stick with it and make sure that they RESTRICT the opposition from having many chances but CREATE many chances of their own. None of the cowboy football where the match is open....that can't work.
With them being out of the Carling and FA Cup, and little hope in United winning the Champions League (although, put money on them now!), all that is left is for United to get in at fourth. Moyes has now put all his focus on the league and get some consistency out of the team.
I'm hearing he now has some loot to spend on players. The only focus should be on midfield and defence. The attack for United is fine, especially with Kagawa in the team. What Moyes needs is a midfielder who can cover for the attacking midfielders who go up and attack. Someone like Gustavo or even Melo at Galatasaray would be great for United...as well as some defenders to replace the aging Vidic, Evra, and Ferdinand. If United can get those players then there might just be hope...maybe. Another loss at home and it might be the same morbid atmosphere again around United.
