Who Gives Three Cats About the FIFA Rankings?????

Really...who does? They have released some new rankings and I see these news updates about a team falling four places or a team going up three places. But the real question is does anyone actually really honestly give a shit about their damn stupid and dumb system?

Normally you would think that a ranking system would be based off competitive matches. You know, to see the best team under tournament circumstances. Surely, a ranking system would not use FRIENDLIES to determine positioning? Surely not. Because a FRIENDLY, is where a team can experiment and just try things, in order to see what will work in an actual COMPETITIVE match. You know, the difference between a FRIENDLY and COMPETITION.
 
Ah, but Blatter and friends do not see it that way. They lump it all together and say it is all fair game. So that is why you have teams like SWITZERLAND and BELGIUM ranked higher than Italy. This is the reason why nobody really cares about some ranking system. I mean, what benefit does it bring? Do you really see Keshi crying and rolling around on the floor because Nigeria have now fallen a few places down in the ranking? No, don't think that is the case.
 
 In theory, a ranking system is actually a good idea. If it was done SOLELY based upon how well a country has done in competitive matches either globally or regionally, it can show a true depiction of how good a country truly is. If it was done properly, Italy would be much higher as they are a team that ALWAYS bring their best when it matters. Teams like Switzerland and Belgium who may be great in friendlies and even qualifiers...are unproven when it REALLY counts, so have no business being placed so high.

In short, screw FIFA and their rankings and let's just focus on the World Cup which will NOT see Belgium or Switzerland going very far...but bet against the Italians are your peril.
