Messi Shows Up For Barcelona with Iniesta....I still can't Find Cristiano with Madrid. A 4-3 MATCHDOWN!
Wow. Not wow because I now proclaim Barcelona as this great team. But wow as in Messi SHOWS THE HELL UP, wow as in Madrid decided today was the day they would defend worse than clowns and wow as in this La Liga for about A THOUSAND YEARS looks set for a very exciting finish.
I have always said that Messi is the best player in the world right now, and I only get on him for not bringing it when it comes to Argentina. But what you saw was a BIG TIME game from a BIG TIME player. Three goals and one assist? Ya, he was involved in ALL FOUR of Barcelona's goals.
When the pressure was at its highest, with the penalty to put them ahead, he puts it right in the top corner with an unsaveable shot. But you know, it would actually help if one made things a bit more difficult for a guy who you know can cause damage. What about the key man that nobody talks that much of...Andres Iniesta.
A great pass from Messi with a great finish from Iniesta, and it was his skill that forced Alonso into what was a dumb tackle (not dumber than the other guy's) and lead to the penalty that took Barcelona to the lead.
If Iniesta plays well and is influential, more times than not, Barcelona find a way to win the game. It was the case again with Madrid allowing him to really have influence and just being stupid with their mistakes. As for dumb mistakes...
Why Ramos decided to make ANY KIND OF CONTACT with Neymar is beyond me. He must be experienced to know that if he even motions towards a player like Neymar, he will try and sell the foul and it is too risky a move to do with the match so close.
He screwed up and it was the turning point in a game that Madrid were winning. If he had let Neymar go, and it was all evens...I think it would have ended up with my prediction of it being a draw...maybe even 4-4. Ramos keeps getting picked in the heart of defense in big games, and he keeps showing how much of a big mistake that is to make. How and WHY Varane was on the BENCH in a game like this is just maddening. Sadly, Ancelotti is falling for the allure of Ramos who must be offering him free backrubs for putting him in heart of the defensive line.
Barcelona are back in the race, and the pressure is on Madrid to win ALL their games, which is a tall order. But, there is a certain drulord's team that are quietly doing their big and chipping away slowly...this COULD be a rare exciting finish to a La Liga season.
