Why can't people learn? Honestly. I try and teach people, tell them how it works but SOME dudes still have faith in this nonsense of passing the ball around again and again....and again....and again. But Ancelotti is from BACK in the day. Direct, straight and GO AT GOAL. Which, SHOCK HORROR, worked!
Ancelotti's tactics were simple. When Bayern have the ball, sit back and hold your position. Watch for the runners and look for the interception but DON'T over-commit. ONCE Madrid had the ball, in two or three passes, they were down on Bayern's goal. Simple as pecan pie.
The way Madrid played is just how FOOTBALL is played. It's about finding spaces in your opponent's defence and EXPLOITING it in as few passes as possible. Nothing complex, just pure football. If you don't like it, fuck off to Mars.
But Madrid screwed up. Rather, Flop decided he wanted to see how high over the bar he could hit the ball. Madrid could have taken a big lead because TACTICALLY they had Bayern sorted. Normally, you know how the story goes....you don't take your chances, in a BIG game like this, you get that ASS spanked like a chipmunk.
IF Madrid keep their defence resolute in the next leg, and they can hit Bayern on the break and actually TAKE those chances, then I fear Bayern may be heading out, especially when you keep in mind the AWAY GOAL.
This tie can swing either way amigos....ain't over.
