Man With the Double-Chin, Van Gaal, is Coach of Manchester United....But Does it Mean Instant Success?
So it's finally been made official, even though they did a CRAP job of trying to make it "secret". But everyone seems to be doing catwheels and hailing the return of United, because the double-chinned maestro is back. But erm, I think that A LOT of work needs to be done before anyone can even BEGIN the conversation of United being back to the greatness that Ferguson brought in.
Van Gaal will have United's golden-child by his side with the adulterous Giggs being the assistant-man. That is a wise move because Giggs can show Van Gaal the United Way and they can trade thoughts and make sure the transition is nice and smooth without departing too much into Louis Van Loco land.
The Moyes era was pretty damn shit, let's just accept that. It was such a SHOCKING season that Van Gaal will need to bring back the mojo of the players who he decides to keep, trying to recapture that winning mentality that made them a feared force in England.
But it's all about those transfers. As soon as Holland get SMACKED out of the World Cup, which should be soon, then Van Gaal has to close that deal for Kroos, get a whole new defence and get a midfield with some big fat hairy balls. So there is a lot of work to be done, and this won't be done in just one season, especially with already formed teams going to be getting stronger.
I don't know. I have NO idea how this will turn out. It will definitely be an improvement over Moyes as Van Gaal is a more experienced and better coach. But as far as United winning titles, I just don't know. There are so many good teams in the Premiership now that Van Gaal will struggle to keep up, as opposed to his time at Bayern (how successful was he there?) and Barcelona.
