Dortmund are Playing the best Football in the World as of NOW
As of writing this, no other club team is playing football on a level of the Dortmund boys lead by Tuchel. This is not an opinion, or a suggestion, this is just a cold hard fact. Dortmund are ballin;, they are flowing and they are playing football the way it is supposed to be played.
Life has taught us many times that good things don't last forever, so we should all savor this superb display of attacking football played in all its luscious and wholesome glory. I thought Klopp's Dortmund team were amazing to watch, but in some ways, Tuchel has managed to even take them up another level by making a team that is more tactically balanced and are even more dynamic than what the crazy, fist-pumping, blonde dude used to be in charge of.
It's incredible the work Tuchel has done in a short space of time. We saw what happened with Moyes when he took over United, and Van Gaal may have come fourth in his first season but he still running into struggles with the Ferguson-led club. A notable difference; Moyes took over a title-winning team in the previous season whilst Tuchel did so for one that was in the relegation zone. Still, you are coming in with new ideas with players who were used to playing under a certain philosophy. Logic states it should take time for said players to understand and transmit those ideas into a working footballing process. By some miracle, perhaps drug-use, or Houdini magic, Tuchel has bypassed many months and has his team playing extremely high level football.
Three players who have been ESSENTIAL forces in Dortmund's amazing football have been Gundogan, Kagawa and Mkhitaryan. In Klopp's last year, Gundogan was mostly injured, Kagawa was a shadow of his former self and Mkhitaryan was hellbent on breaking the record for most consecutive open goal misses. In some way, Tuchel has gotten the best out of Kagawa and Mkhitarayan, and has them playing their best football to date. As good as Kagawa was in his first stint under Klopp, I believe that he is playing an even higher level of ball now, and his unleashing and creation of chances out of thin air. With Mkhitaryan, he is doing what Klopp bought him for. He's being the attacking midfield terminator, who can both bring players into the game and score goals as well. Previously, he was dubbed MISSYtaryan because of the amount of times he found himself in good positions, only to mess them up. Now, he is still getting in those positions but now he is putting them away. The Hand of Tuchel?
If the league was to end now, with Dortmund ahead by goal difference and playing the way that they have played, then it would be completely and utterly deserved. It's refreshing to see the best team win the league, but that does not always happen. They say mathematics; I say sometimes the best football doesn't always get the good side of the mathematical logic of a league table. It's still very early in the league and we could be looking back at this article and laughing as to how Dortmund were being praised, but rather in March of next year after a losing streak they are in mid-table. Hopefully that doesn't happen, but it's football...ANYTHING can happen.
