It's over for Aston Villa. They are done. As of right now, Aston Villa Football Club have registered one victory.
Think about that.
In all of twenty matches played, Aston Villa have only won once. And they are seven points away from the
I'll wait...
Done? Good. Suffice to say, Villa have had a horrendous season and they could go into the record books for all the wrong reasons when May rolls around. Plans are already being made for Division 1, and all the next few months are about is damage-limitation and building the roads for trying to get back in the Premiership in two seasons time.
What is the reason for their debacle? It's rather simple. Goals. Yep, that thing that makes you win games and is the very point of a football match is why they ahve only won once this season. Villa do not have a natural goalscorer in the team, and once you're without that, and those losses mount up, it's very diffcult to even begin to think of how you go about winning a game.
You look at Benteke, Ashley Young, James Milner; these were goalscorers. They could win the game for Villa out of nothing, and once you remove that, you've got to replace it. Delph leaving was a blow, but not as major as the three I mentioned. I look at their team and there's nothing in there. No player that others can look to for inspiration to drive them forward.
When you view over the years at the teams that have been relegated, clubs who are not as big as Villa, they haven't done this badly. What makes this so shocking is how long Villa have been in the Premiership before. In fact, doing my research, Villa were one of the first clubs in the old first division in England and they have never been relegated. That just puts even more shame to the current establishment and players.
Can they survive? Mathematically, it is very possible. It's happened before, where a team can go on a five or six game winning run which takes them out of the zone as other continue to struggle. But the difference here is Villa only have one victory so far this season and they don't look like they could buy a win, even if it was offered to them for free. When you think on that, then no, I don't believe they will survive this season.
