Dortmund Must Keep Hold of Their Stars Coming into Second Half of Season
Tuchel has had an amazing start to his career with Dortmund. It is they along with Napoli who have played the best football in Europe. Attacking, brave, interconnected and so entertaining to watch, with so many players finally enjoying themselves and being happy and confident on the ball. With the January transfer window heating up and clubs wanting to get those signatures rolling, it is now more than ever that they must fight to keep their stars.
Three targets have are now being eyed with a move away; Gundogan, Aubameyang and now Weigl. Two of these are vital to Dortmund with the other being a very important member to keep the team structure. Obviously, teams want them because of how well they have done in the first half of the season. Unless scouts have been in strip bars instead of stadiums, they would have watched Dortmund and seen just how good these players have been and how they would improve their own clubs.
It is very important that Dortmund do not sell whatever the price. The temptation will be there, and the board may have that devil on the shoulder urging them to take the money. I would advise them to do all they can to hold onto these players and build. That is what Tuchel was brought in for. They already lost Lewandowski and Mario, and that was a serious blow and pretty much handed Bayern the title. To now lose even more of their stars would be sending them back to the drawing board.
For me, as a football fan, I don't want them to go. It's Dortmund that I choose to watch over all those clubs who are seeking to buy them. I love the crew that they have and the chemistry that Tuchel has built around them. I thought once Lewandowski and Götze left, it would be all over for Dortmund. But they have licked their wounds and Tuchel has gotten them back on the right path. It would be a great football trajedy if they were robbed off their talent again.
So unless the offer says two billion in cash, it should be rejected. Let us, football fans, enjoy other teams rather than the same teams. Because in all honesty, it gets tiresome seeing the same click have all the stars leaving the others with bricks.
