Robinho shows he has the IT factor...only when he can be MOTIVATED
Robinho reminded the world that...he actually does know how to play football. He reminded all of us of his brilliant control, eye for the pass and the ability to dance through a tight defence. In those early minutes against Barcelona, you saw Robinho at his BEST. It's a shame that he forgot there are NINETY MINUTES IN MATCH. Well, that is where our good ol' pal Allegri comes into the dear discussion.
If Milan are to be of ANY relevance, the old Robinho needs to be rekindled. Kaka is done. Yes, it was a nice pass to Robinho and he did SOME good stuff, but overall...HE IS DONE. The best player on that pitch...albeit for only about ten minutes...was Robinho. Now, why the heck can't Allegri get Robinho to be doing this for a full match? It really comes down to a question of motivation and tactics.
Once Barcelona understood the threat of Robinho and how he linked up with Kaka, they intensified their game and shut him out. Allegri, this is where you erm....RESPOND?! But nope, Allegri did not try and move Robinho to vulnerable points in the Barcelona rearguard and did not INSTRUCT the other Milan players to try and find him and make good diagonal runs for him. If you had Muntari and others making those runs once they countered, like the offside goal that the Ghanian scored, I am sure Milan would have responded.
But it's the same old story. Glimmers. Hints. Robinho still has it and Allegri needs to work on him really bringing it out. It's a question of structuring the team in a manner in which can best utilize the skills of Robinho so that he can be that creative force that Milan need...because they ain't got nobody else who can do the damn job.
