RVP may have turned around season for United and Moyes
I said it. If EVER there was a match to shove a dynamite up United's backside, it was THIS match. United losing this would have been catastrophic for them. The mental destruction that would have occurred may have lead to the eventual sacking of Moyes, or him leaving. Then, who knows what heights Arsenal would then have gone on to after that. BUT, United showed up and despite not having an excellent performance...they showed a spirit and character that has won them so many damn titles. The thug came out in them and Moyes must be thanking the teeth he put under his pillow or whatever fairies, because we may see a dramatic turnaround.
Make no mistake, unless United somehow screw up even more, they are BACK in the title race. It is clear that there is no one consistent team. Seems everyone is happy to sit back with a cigar and cough up points for fun. Which brings in United to go on a run and get right back near the top of things. This match reignited the United belief and Moyes has to ensure he uses the spirit and fine-tunes his tactics to get the team being far more consistent. The danger though, is this may have been a one-off. United knew Arsenal were playing well and they knew they were fierce rivals. So what Moyes wants to avoid is the team raising their game for this match, but then dropping down for when other teams come to visit. THAT CANNOT HAPPEN. Anymore games that United lose, they will keep slipping further and further away.
Once the teams stepped onto that pitch, THE most clinical finisher was Van Persie. You knew, and everyone else knew that all he needed was a good chance. In fact, he never really got that. But it was just a moment's lapse in concentration and Van Persie pounced. THAT is what separates him from Giroud. RVP is a deadly striker that can hurt you from the ground and the air. You turn your senses off for a second, and the next thing you know is the ball chilling out in the back of your net. With Van Persie in the team, United will ALWAYS have a chance. Always, always. It's up to Moyes to cradle him like a baby and ensure the team works FOR him, and gives him excellent service. If that is done, United will get back right up in the table.
Can United win the title? Erm....after the way the results went, Daffy Duck can take the crown. It is ANYONE'S. The team that is serious about mounting a real assault and being focused on NOT dropping any points may run away with this league. So Moyes has to realize he has a real opportunity to get off to a great start and RETAIN the title. It all begins with creating the perfect environment for RVP to flourish and getting the character and winner's mentality back to United where they go on those endless runs.
