End of the Road for the Immortal Abbiatti?
Abbiatti, the bald man who seems to keep going and going..AND going, may finally be ready to call it a day. He says if Allegri Milan do not renew his contract, he may contemplate retirement. If I was to advise my dear bald friend, I would say he should call it quits...ONLY if he feels it is right. He can retire a true LEGEND of Milan.
You can't really have a Milan team without Abbiatti being involved in some way. He is almost like the very farbic of Milan. That bald head and trimmed tache with his old-man style way of keeping has been a real feature of Milan. He was a keeper who I never thought was very good and looked to struggle with every save he made, and having quick shot-stopping reflexes was way beyond him.
In recent times, I have been shocked by some of the performances he has put in. He has come out with some real good saves and you can just look at how MANLY he stood up against the Ajax youngsters. The strange thing is he is probably doing the best keeping of his career in a team that gives up chances like candy to kids.
If Christian is to retire, good riddance to him. I tip my hat to him remaining consistent, not giving up when Dida (where is he by the way?) was the number one keeper. Milan should really get a younger and better keeper, and Amelia looks alright but they can do better. If they cannot get one, what the hell, renew Abbiatti's contract as he is one of the RARE consistently decent performers in a Milan team that is more bad than good.
