FINALLY. I am just relieved that we don't have anymore tweets, blogs or articles about James eating pie in Madrid as he nears his medical. It is done and Real Madrid are sticking FOUR fingers up at the Financial Fair Play people. But I think people must relax and not simply assume this guy will be a superstar in his first season for Real. ONE good World Cup performance does NOT make you the next Dinho or Real Ronaldo.
The hype and praise that James has gotten over the last few weeks has been ridiculous. If there was one clear-cut individual performer at the Cup, it would have to be Robben who consistently was a threat....all the way till the third place play-off, going further than James and Colombia did. And you've got to look at the teams Colombia played. I'll give James that performance and goal against a very tough defensive Uruguay, but people...this was ONE World Cup. And as one of my forum amigos rightfully mentioned....did anyone see him for Monaco?
But Real have bought a very good footballer. Talent is talent and James has it. The ability to break from midfield, run with the ball, find the right pass are all important virtues in ANY football team. He joins what was a functional Real midfield, but not necessarily the most glamorous or eye-pleasing. James, if he does bring his best, will give Real a more attacking threat with Bale and Cristiano getting more service, which is bad news for ERRR body!
I hope he does well. I loved watching him at the cup, and hope he stays fit for the Copa next year in Chile. But just do not assume Real will win it all because he is in the team....that would be very immature thinking....
