Last season, Benatia and Castan formed one of THE best defensive partnerships in Europe. The unbeaten run was mainly due to the amazing efforts of Benatia. He is a central defender that would moonwalk into most first teams. But I want him to moonwalk BACK into the Roma dressing room and concentrate on toppling the Allegri-led Juventus.
Roma are in the Champions League and with the experience of last season in the Serie A, they should be stronger. It would be VERY unwise for Benatia to jeopardize his career, by taking a risk on another club where things may not work out.
Money.
Can't run away from that word. It rules modern football now and it's what a player looks at FIRST before considering a move. If Benatia is being offered three playboy mansions and a house on the moon...fine, I may take that myself as well. But why can't football be the main reason anymore? Is it such a poisonous word?
It would be sad if Benatia left Roma. Not because I support Roma. It's because of the very dark reminder that modern football is filthy. It reeks of greed and the mighty dollar, with loyalty being almost non-existent.
