BIG BOOTY CLUTCHES, BUT VAMP CAVANI FINALLY SHOWS UP IN 1-1 CHELSEA, PSG
It was the result Mourinho wanted. Almost the exact result. 0-0 would have been his preferred and a WIN would just be special. But to get that away goal and NOT lose, it means they are winning and PSG must come at them.
Missed opportunities for PSG, another Ibra flop, long ball football BUT....the Vamp showed up, but should have won the game for the Parisien rich boys.
It was not surprising how Chelsea approached the game by a THOU SHALT NOT PASS defensive setup, and rarely any dynamic runs up forward. It was purely a game of chess wanted by Mourinho, and Blanc being the "imaginative" man that he is, fell right into the trap. PSG were forced into long balls and aimless crosses that got defended with EASE.
There were some chances from them....but just bits and pieces and even though Courtois made ONE very good save, there were no amazing clear cut chances. Blanc's tactics again lacked any real creativity, and their constant passing and search for the wing made it as easy as blueberry pie for Chelsea to defend against.
When Big Booty, who I have to say, may be one of the clutchest players alongside Ramos, scored, I
thought Chelsea would win it. They were good enough at the back, SUPER ORGANIZED and Ibra again was having another stinker in a big match. For someone who talks a big game, he came up smaller than an ant drunk on shrunken juice.
Speaking of the Serbian man, the AMOUNT of times he has scored in crucial games including the winner in the UEFA Cup Final is amazing. His record of goals for a defender is OUTSTANDING and has to be amongst the best in the world. And the quality is reading the game, which all good defenders know how to do, some better than others, but also having just better quality in finishing in comparison to his other colleagues that play at the back of the tran.
Second half. Totally different match. Mourinho was happy to sit back, but PSG actually began to keep the ball on the ground and trust their skill to find players in space. The goal came from a cross which should have been defended, but the Vamp Cavani headed down very well and the brilliance of the goal was the only way Courtois was going to get beaten playing the way he was. Also, give props, because scoring those headed goals where the ball must be put down and then up, is a difficult skill that is all about getting the perfect connection which is what the man from Uruguay got.
It was a missed opportunity. The way the second half went, with Veratti OWNING the midfield, Mourinho would have been so happy he left with 1-1. PSG should have stretched the lead and could have gotten two more goals. Chelsea were NOT INTERESTED IN THE LEAST in scoring and were happy just to fold their arms, sit back and chill out.
Alas, it was a 1-1 draw and now PSG have to raise their game and PLAY WITH LUCAS AND PASTORE starting and do something in London. For Mourinho, they will obviously be a lot more attacking and can kill them on the counter. But this was mission complete for My Boy. It did not look pretty and did not make for a great game of football, but that is not Mourinho's job. His only job is to win the trophy, and how it looks really does not matter in the SLIGHTEST.
Blanc still needs to get sacked and his tactics are dull, boring and bland. Props for having Luiz in midfield which just seems to work so much better, but for a team so talented, to not have any identity or play short-quick passes with dynamic runs is a shame. Instead, they play a predictable wing-based game which is not good enough to beat Chelsea at the Bridge who will unleash Hazard, and it could be lights out for the Parisiens.....well, Matuidi was the only Frenchman on the team I BELIEVE....
