Dr. Dre Schurrle's Move back to Germany is Best thing for National Team
Some may see this as a step backwards or that he failed. The idea was once he left Leverkusen for Chelsea, that was it with the only direction being onwards and upwards. But it didn't work out and he is at Wolfsburg which may look like q step back, but it is the best thing for Dre and the National team.
The thing about Schurrle is that he is not a typical German player. There is actually an attacking mindset he has which is similar to a South American. Because you rarely see many German players with the eagerness to always move forward rather than find the right pass.
Seeing him do his thing for Chelsea and Germany, it was great to see a guy with such refreshing attacking confidence, and coming from Germany. So it was just sad to see Mourinho not really give him a fair hand. But those that know My Boy and how he likes his players would understand that it was never going to work.
But the most important thing in football is not who you play for or whether you play. If you asked Dre if he would rather play a few games for Chelsea but babe mostly sleeping on the bench or being a regular starter for Wolfsburg, he would go for the Wolves.
Because if you don't play, how the hell are you supposed to improve? Dre is part of the new young German generation and he knows that he can take his game to an even higher level. The only way that can happen is going out into the pitch and naturally improving by the amount of times he gets fed the ball.
For Germany and Joachim, this is ideal. Because they have to cope with life without their mercurial captain, and to do that, they need their best players playing regularly. If they aren't then they can't be picked and Joachim is restricted when he goes to the Euros.
Wolfsburg is a nice team. This is no Dortmund who can't spell Win let alone actually do it, these are guys who are second and are a very well oiled machine. He can come in and start to enjoy his football again and regain that confidence.
What players need to understand is about picking the RIGHT team, not the biggest team. Of course, ambitious players should always want to prove themselves amongst the very best players, but sometimes, even if you may have proven yourself, there are other factors beyond your control that you have no power over. That is why it is just about putting your head down and putting that work in within an environment that works FOR you.
I think Schurrle could be one of the most exciting killers to have come out of Germany maybe ever. He just needs the opportunity to express himself and show that he is the future of German football.
