I did not give Celta Vigo a SHRED of a chance. I assumed they would get their backsides handed to them with sublime ease. I would even have suggested the forfeit rule be used in this instance, so as not to waste people's time and money with the inevitable.
Celta Vigo proved me wrong.
My view on La Liga has not changed and Barcelona can easily go on a fifteen game winning streak, smacking the hell out of teams. But this is refreshing to see that a club can go out, and give it to Barcelona and make it hard for them. It's all I ask. If you get beat, fine. At least make it tough for Barca, and force them to have to work to get their win.
Celta Vigo have bore no relevance to me since the nineties. So again, I have to give them another round of applause. It wasn't just a win, it was a total slaughterhouse against a team that has the best attack in the world. The victory is monumental and incredible and sometimes, far too rarely, football does show why it can be such a great sport by surprising us when David takes down Goliath.
Let's just hope we don't see a Barcelona eight goal smackdown in the next La Liga match.
PS I am STILL taking Di Maria and Marcelo over Messi. Please bring your best lawyers and sue me.
