I am not a fan of covering stories that are not strictly football related, but I actually find this rather amusing. So I shall give my brief six cents on a bizarre sex-tape blackmail involving footballers who earn quite a bit of cash already each week.
The whole point of a blackmail is for getting money, a lot of it. Blackmails happen mostly from those who need the money, or the rich who just see a quick opportunity to get even richer, because no amount is every really enough. So Benzema would fall in the latter category of those that just wants to get richer. But for the life of me, I actually don't get why Benzema would want to blackmail Valbuena for the free of a few grand that they are putting out there. Especially when you are one Real Madrid's best and most important players. It doesn't make sense...
Unless....
Benzema and Valbuena perhaps has some history and he wants to get back him. There has to be something
far deeper than just mere blackmail, because if it is, then Karim may have to be one of the dumbest people I know. Not many people can be in his position, of being a star player for Real Madrid as well as the best footballer for their national team. Oh, and there's also a pretty big tournament that is being hosted in his home nation next summer, so again, it really begs the question of why Benzema would even put himself in such an odd situation to potentially face jail-time.
We'll see how the story develops and how Djibril Cisse, is somehow also involved in this. It would be humorous though if Benzema ended up in prison for five years, and would therefore make history as the first active football player to be sentenced to prison for a blackmail involved a sex-tape of a fellow national-team colleague.
