Buffon putting Cech as the Best Overall Keeper?

So Buffon was asked about who he thought the best overall goalkeeper today was. He came up with three names, with two being no surprise to anyone and the third enforcing the raised eyebrow from me. We can all agree that Neuer is the all-round best goalkeeper today and even though Casillas has fallen off recently, he was a big reason as to why Spain were so dominant from 2008-2012.

But where does Petr Cech fit into this whole conversation?

Buffon actually said even though Casillas is great with his hands and Neuer is great in the air, he puts Cech as the overall best goalkeeper. That to lead to me scratching my head, because the Cech that I see today just isn't the same as the dominant figure we say at Chelsea during the first Mourinho reign and at the 2004 European Championships with the Czech Republic. At that time, he was easily the best keeper in the world.

If we are to talk of right now, I don't see a better goalkeeper who covers all facets of the position better than Manuel The Berlin Wall Neuer. He has excellent reflex skills, is dependable, makes the right decisions and is just an all round excellent keeper. Just look at the two ridiculous saves that he pulled off in the 2-0 loss to Arsenal, which had my jaw lodged to the flow in awe.

Cech on the other hand is still a very good keeper, but in no way is he elite. He is very dependable and rarely makes mistakes, but his sharpness and reflexes are not as good as they used to be. So those impossible dives to the corner using the fingertips to stop a sure goal that Neuer and even Buffon himself can pull off, is not something Cech can do any longer.
