With this United Team, Van Gaal Stands No Chance

So United drew another blank when they needed some G's and the Gaal has now been facing a lot of the blame, with people saying he is responsible for United looking so abject when they have needed to show up. With Wolfburg winning in Moscow, and this group being so tight, United had to get a win against PSV. For some reason, somehow, they managed to botch it up and not manage to register a goal. You know it would have even be better if they lost 2-1 or 3-2, but to offer up nothing more than a 0-0 in front of your own fans is a big fat joke. The worrying thing is this will continue to happen. With those jokers that I see on the pitch, I have no idea where a consistent supply of goals is going to come from.

In order to win games, you need goals. You also need to defend as well as have possession of the ball, but if you don't have anyone that can put the ball inside the fishnet, then you're not winning any games. Even when United beat Watford, it wasn't as if they created a multitude of chances. They got that chance that Depay put away, and Schweinsteiger was in the right place at the right time to get the win, that was actually an own goal. So this isn't the United team under Ferguson who constantly were creating chances, and were far more creative. It begs the question; if Ferguson was given the exact same players that the Gaal has now, would he be doing better?

That is a difficult question to answer. As great as Ferguson is, and that man is one of the greatest managers
of all time, I'm not sure how much he could have done with a brick like Rooney and all the other sideshows on this team. He would have gotten two or three quality players who would be able to notch them up a level. You can blame Van Gaal all you want, but this is a team in need of some quality. With the current crop, they won't do anything of note in the Champions League and I find it hard to fathom, no matter how close it is, this squad having the legs and consistency to win the Premiership.

People need to look at the actual problem, and stop using those microcosm glasses which are bad for you. It's easy to lay the blame on Van Gaal, and force him to play a more attacking and expansive game. But the only way that kind of strategy can work is if you have the players to. The real issue are the players. Because we all know the money is there, so that isn't the issue. However, having a load of cash and gold is one thing, but knowing how to use by buying the right players is another thing. Douglas Costa would have cost United some loose change and he would have changed this team. But the scouts missed out on him and Bayern got there before them.

I am still a believer in Depay and Martial has easily been their player. But when you have a dude like Rooney who is grossly overpaid and hasn't yet been dropped due to horrendous performances, that's a problem. I'll put the blame on Van Gaal for that. But then if he is to drop Rooney, and Martial is already on the pitch, who else is there to play?

United Need The Right Players.
