Aguero is going home, in 2019, to Independiente
He's off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of...Argentina. Or Independiente to be more precise.
I like this. When a professional player who makes an insane amount of cash decides to forego earning even more money, and return back to their homeland where they would only earn a fraction of what they previously did, shows a genuine realness of the player. Riquelme did it, Tevez did it, Messi may do it, and now Aguero has decided to join that elite club of Argentines to return back home. At the end of the day, money can buy you a lot of things (and I do mean, a lot), but it can't buy you that feeling you get when people from your hometown show you genuine love and appreciation.
Without Aguero, there is no Man City as Premiership Champions. Both literally and footballing-wise. The former because he scored the goal that gave them the crown on the final day. People seem to forget that Balotelli played a crucial part in that goal in the way he held up the ball, and laid it perfectly for Kun to smash it home in the bottom corner. The latter, due to the fact of how much he contributes to the team over a season. Just look at how City perform whenever he picks up an injury, and compare it to when he's fully fit and finishing like the assassin that he is. When he leaves, there will most definitely at the very least be a statue made of him, and I'm sure Sergio would want to decide whether they use gold or silver to construct it.
For the last three or four years, when people have been naming the best strikers in the world, Kun has always been in that conversation. And to think that there are not that many strikers of any real quality out there, it shows you how amazing he's been to have been consistently in that rather exclusive pool of players who have been in that group. For Man City to replace him would be almost impossible. I mean, who knows what other amazing finisher is out there that we don't know of. And maybe even my guy, Kelechi could mature and grow to be one of the best strikers around. At least, that is what my very selfish self hopes will happen.
If he does keep to this, it would be amazing for Independiente. They would have never thought, seeing how huge Aguero has gotten in the world, he would come all the way back to a team who have rarely been mentioned outside of Argentina because of the huge popularity of Boca Juniors and River Plate. It would even be an amazing achievement if in his thirties if Aguero manages to bring back some silverware for his hometown club.
By the way, actually showing up for Argentina would help Mister Sergio.
