Pep WILL Be Judged by the Champions League. He Needs to Accept that

Pep needs to get real. Him coming out and saying that he won't be judged by Champions League success is just wrong and foolish to even say. I view it as a way of reducing the pressure that he has this season to deliver the goods and win that trophy. To just rely on the domestic trophies and view that as being successful for Bayern gets the two thumbs downs for me.

The match against Juventus is very big and it all goes down for Bayern early. Normally, they wouldn't face a tough test this early, but the fates have had it that it's last year's finalists that they must start with. They'll need to hit the ground running and whether Pep likes it or not the spotlight will be on him. Bayern fans are not bothered about a league that they know will be wrapped up in a month or two. It's all about the big trophy that Heynckes delivered for them and with a squad as talented as Bayern's getting constantly knocked out in the semi-finals is not good enough.

I have a really big problem with Pep coming out and making this announcement before the match against Juventus. It doesn't breed confidence into his boys for this game against Juventus and for the long haul of the competition. He should be talking about how they believe they can win the competition instead of trying to make excuses for if they don't bring home the cookie. But I get why he made it.

Based on the ease with which Bayern have won the league based more on the strength of their team, rather than Pep's coaching skill, fans and even neutrals have focused more on them conquering Europe. So I feel Pep think it's unfair if he is judged solely on the Champions League whilst his achievements in Germany are overlooked. But it is what it is. With a team that is vastly superior to every other club in Germany, winning the league and cup is the least that is expected.

So for Guardiola, he needs to put his focus on winning the Champions League because if come May, he is not lifting the trophy aloft, then he would be somewhat of a failure as a Bayern manager. He was brought in to bring in trophies and maintain domination in Germany, but really for a team that has Lewandowski, Goetze, Vidal, Robben, Boateng, Muller and Neuer...winning the Champions League is the priority.

Pep...you need to get it done.
