Simeone has REINCARNATED Blondie aka Torres
Dang. I thought I would never see the day where I would actually be praising Fernando Torres. The same man who missed an open goal and gave a new meaning to the term "brick". A player who set the standard of falling from grace. It's unimaginable that he is now back scoring and actually doing something of worth for Atletico. But where Simeone the drug-dealer is around, miracles really can happen.
I've been the biggest critique of Blondie in the entire world. Ever since moving to Chelsea, he's gone on a downward spiral and has been a steaming pile. Anyone who saw the Blondie at Liverpool and in Spain during 2008 would have to agree it was like looking at two completely different players. One was the coldest finisher in the world and the other could hardly even control the ball or do anything of worth.
When he moved to Atletico, I didn't care. I had given up on him and didn't think he would ever be relevant again. I cannot stress just how useless Blondie was for Chelsea and Milan. It was agonizing when the ball would be at his feet and he would awkwardly try and make something happen.
To now see him not only scoring regularly but important G's, shows just what a miracle maker Simeone is. This is the same manager who almost won the double with a backyard squad, so sorcery is his game and he performed some on Blondie. I wouldn't be surprised if he's given Blondie some of his drugs also from the cartel in Buenos Aires that we all know he runs. Because I would buy that explanation as it's nothing short of a miracle that Blondie is scoring again and not being a brick, which is what I thought he would retire as.
He's still not what he was back during his peak but at least he is a lot better than he's been recently. With Atletico chasing Barcelona for this Liga title, he scored again and that was a very important goal which just keeps raising his stock and even might peak Del Bosque's interest when thinking of a squad for the Euros.
There's a Champions League semi-final blockbuster to come against Bayern and the last few matches of the league left. Blondie could still further enter Atletico folklore if his goals can help give his boyhood club a trophy and would go a long way in making up for the garbage he showed for Chelsea and AC Milan. HH
