Is it time for Aubameyang to be Dortmund's new Lewandowski?
So Lewandowski will be out of here in the summer, and Dortmund are trying and searching for that top striking man that the Pole has been. WELL, Mr. KLOPP.....there is a saying where a man goes about looking for something but finds what he was looking for was staring him right in the face. Aubameyang's two goals that rescued a win for Dortmund, shows this kid is slowly taking up that mantle as the GOAL-MAN for Dortmund.
Dortmund are still struggling and have yet to find their lightning feet. Injuries to Gundogan, Hummels, Subotic have hit them hard. But the main issue is not creating chances, it's putting them away.
Lewandowski, although playing well, is not the same player as previous seasons. With knowing he is moving to Bayern, his mind ain't on the Dortmund effort. But again, just as he has done in far too FEW games this season, Pierre has come up with the goals for Dortmund...but in the wing position. With Robbie L now on the move, I think NOW is the time for Klopp to groom Aubameyang into his striker.
Honestly, I would have thought Dortmund would have tried harder to go for Doumbia who I am sure won't mind leaving the freezing doldrums of Russia. But they didn't and I think that Klopp can do to Aubameyang with what Wenger did to Henry. Both started out as wingers, both fast, and both with good finishing. THAT is the key component. When given a good chance, Aubameyang puts it away very neatly. So Klopp, START TRAINING HIM UP.
Not everything goes the way of Henry, who went on to become one of the greatest strikers in the Premiership. Without a doubt, Aubameyang will not reach the level that Thierry reached. BUT, the move to a new role MUST be made now with a replacement on the wing made. I would suggest playing him alongside Lewandowski this season, then make him that lone striker for next season. It's time for him to become the STRIKER Dortmund desperately needs.
