The Hard Mata as Juan gets Omitted from Spain Squad

This was always going to be the danger. With Mata not being in Mourinho's plans and hardly playing...there was not much else Del Bosque could do but give out spaces to those places who have played and performed well regularly, and thus be given their chances to prove themselves.

Juan must be reeling and be PISSED off with Mourinho. At Chelsea before Jose, he was playing the best football that he had played, and was pretty much a staple in the Spanish squad. Nobody could deny his incredibly accurate passing and his ability to perhaps even be a starter if Silva or Fabregas were not up to their roles. That all changed with Mourinho coming in with a whole new style and Mata HAD to make the hard decision in leaving.

This was going to be the short-term outcome. Just coming to United, he needs a lot more playing time to show what he can still do. Honestly, only if he can come up with something amazing to propel United into the improbable of a Champions League spot can he maybe find his way in the squad. There is still that chance because who knows how Diego Costa and other debutantes are going to fare when they put on the national shirt. But Mata MUST keep the faith and believe he has time...and somehow ship Moyes off-world....ONE-WAY FIRST CLASS TRIP.
