It was right. Sorry, but this IS the right move. Wenger has reacted and done the right thing by not only leaving Ozil out of the team, but out of the squad as a whole. This is the best thing for this dude, and I think the time off will actually help him to come back as a stronger player.
That Bayern performance was NIGHTMARE. But up until the penalty, Ozil was great. He was the main problem that Bayern were struggling to deal with. But in a big game like that, to miss a penalty in that manner...it takes THE LIFE OUT OF YOU. Wenger should have subbed off Ozil at halftime, keeping him on for the whole game was just not ideal or helpful to him. I said in my post match that Ozil has to be left out for two matches....he needs time to cool down and just regather himself and try and find out what makes him a good player.....and ALSO PUT AN EFFORT IN which I believe, according to reports, was what Flamini was chastising him for.
Ozil is not a STAR player....he is not worth 40 million clams and you CANNOT build your team around him. Once you understand and accept that as fact, then what you have is a VERY VERY useful player and someone who can benefit ANY team. He can pick out a difficult pass, and knows how to really play that decisive forward pass that can lead to a goal.
Wenger has to make Arsenal operate as A TEAM. They no longer have an Henry who they could look to for inspiration...all they have is each other and they are a very good team. They just need to work together as one and they can perhaps...hopefully with the help of a fit and ready Ozil....make something happen!
