Yaya Toure Proves Again He IS One of the Best Footballers In the World
He is. And I hope people are now convinced that this guy IS amongst the best footballers out there. What he does and what he offers to a team is AMAZING. He was one of the stars of that match against United, and the goal he scored was just rounding off yet another DOMINATING performance in the heart of the midfield.
United could not cope with him and Fernandinho. Each time City attacked, it was through Yaya who just ran shit. First time passing, through balls, nice grounders to the wing, and just a control of what was happening.
That was the main difference. Where Cleverley and Carrick were happy to sit in the midfield and have a picnic amongst themselves, Yaya along with Fernandinho both ATTACKED and pushed forward, and thus caused United a lot of problems. Just even remembering that bad kick from De Gea which Yaya controlled in an instant and hit a perfect ball to his partner-in-crime Silva, who almost setup a goal for Dzeko. It was that quick thinking that United did not have and for most of the match, they could not step up to the pace that Yaya and his comrades were dictating.
It's shocking that Yaya is not put out as one of the best ballers out there. It's not even up for debate that he is better than the one-trick pony Cristiano. The only two players currently who are either on his level or above are Ribery and Messi.
It's one thing to play well and be involved SO MUCH in a match, but the way he is taking his goals puts a lot of strikers out there to shame. The composure to get past the United defender and knowledge to put it right into the corner of the far post was perfectly executed. I just hope that people can now really begin to appreciate his talents. Perhaps Nasri was right when he said if he was French, there would be more people talking about him. But then remember Weah? Still, Weah was a striker and it was too hard to ignore what he was doing in the toughest league to score.
I want Yaya to get the credit he deserves. The HARDEST position to play in football is the central midfield position. The running, stamina and focus needed makes it so tough. Yaya just breezes by it and he is actually getting better with each season. I PRAY he is fit for the World Cup because as an African, I will be cheering on Ivory Coast and Yaya.
