Too many times we hear of the coaches of the bigger teams, and never really give credit to the guys down below. Before Pulis arrived at Crystal Palace, they were IN that dogfight and looked like they were destined to go right down. But Pulis has come in, and reinvented himself and made Crystal Palace into a well-organized team that know how to play. So....GIVE RESPECT TO THE MAN WITH THE CAP.
Pulis built an identity with Stoke that was revered, and made MANY big teams fear to go and play them at their cribb. It was long ball, physical, and very rugged football. Simple, but very effective. Why he got sacked is something that is well and truly beyond my understanding. And I don't think Hughes has actually made them any better.
Coming into Crystal Palace, most people thought that he would bring the same rugged, defensive style to London. But, he's surprised everyone and has kept the forward-thinking and footballing ways of the team, but just made them meaner in defense and more organized. So from suffering down in the relegation zone, they are a few place from MID-TABLE, and they may even be responsible for being the ones who took the title out of Chelsea's hands.
When they start to vote for the coach of the year, two names will be at the top of the list; Martinez and Rodgers. But, if there is a third name, it HAS to be Pulis. You just can't ignore how he's transformed Crystal Palace, because his task has been MORE difficult. Having to raise the morale of a team used to losing, and getting points from better teams is something that must be applauded and praised. Let's see how it all ends once the season comes...
