How Will Not Much Action Affect Victor Moses for the World Cup and Nigeria?
For Keshi and the Super Eagles, Victor Moses is a VITAL player. Without him, Nigeria do NOT have the star player that can change a game. Moses is ALL talent and my lord...he DRIBBLES, which I love. His move to Liverpool was supposed to give him first-team action to put him in the best shape for the World Cup. Well, thanks to Sterling and Liverpool chasing the title, Moses has been sleeping on the bench. So how much will this affect Keshi's plans?
It's pretty simple what the Liverpool situation is...
HE SHOULD HAVE NEVER GONE TO LIVERPOOL.
Was speaking to a Nigerian at a pub (free beer!) and he said that Moses should have gone to Crystal Palace or even Southampton. He would pretty much be guaranteed a starting spot, would get match-fitness for the World Cup and know that he would be heading back to Chelsea.
What we have now is a player who just won't be at his very best come the World Cup. Playing HIGH-LEVEL matches is very important, because once you play that first match, you really want to hit that ground running. Of course, the flip-side is the rest that he has and freshness, but how many games will it take till he can regain that spark that a starter has on a pitch?
Keshi HAS to start Moses, whatever the case. There is nobody else that can play his position as well as he does. What Keshi has to hope for is that he doesn't get injured, and can feature in as many competitive friendlies before the World Cup starts.
It is very annoying, because I was looking forward to seeing what Moses would have done at Liverpool. But seeing him play in that system, it just didn't work. Moses is a guy who would be GREAT in the Serie A, where the games are a lot slower and more tactical. When you even look at how Keshi's Nigeria play, it's far more cautious and measured in their approach...with similarities to the golden era of the nineties.
Let's all hope for the best, but it's a shame that we won't see Moses really make the kind of impact I know he could have made, had he been playing all season.....
DAMN YOU, RODGERS!!!!
