Is Marco Reus Ready to Lead Germany to the Promised Land?

When Reus made his move from one Borussia club to another, there was some hype to him, but it was mostly local. I never really thought he would amount to anything of much note. BUT, ever since Dortmund and till now, he has become a SUPER player who on his day, can CUT THROUGH most defenses. After a bit of a dip in performance, he is now playing at his peak and he is one of Germany's ELITE players in the world. In great time for the World Cup...

Germany have all the talent needed to win the World Cup. They are EASILY one of the best teams out there, but what they are lacking is someone who can step up and DELIVER for the team. Ozil has fallen off, and I can no longer give him that label of a STAR or someone that a team can be built around.

Goetze was the player who I felt can actually be one of the stars of the World Cup. However, lately, he seems to have become lost in the big matches and has been consumed by the very strict Pep-passing system. But for Reus, he has answered the call that Klopp has put out, and is EASILY the clear-cut superstar of the team. His speed, precision-passing, ability to find space and run with the ball, along with his balance and urge TO GO FORWARD, are assets that have Dortmund in the Final and ALMOST made them make a comeback against Real Madrid.

Joachim, my good friend, knows that the time is NOW to deliver the gold for Germany. He has had three tournaments now, and they have come back empty-handed. There is no longer the excuse of hiding behind the age of the players. Based on how Bayern are dominating and now the emergence of Reus, he has his team playing at the peak of their abilities.

The one danger though is the system of Germany. For Reus to flourish, Germany have to play a quicker game that allows Reus to break from midfield and link up with Schurrle and Goetze, NOT Klose who is far too old and immobile to be a starter. If you have that kind of strategy, then Germany can pretty much go all the way. But remember, I am not talking of FULL-ON COWBOY ATTACK. Brazil are the only team that know how to play that kind of football. What it consists of is allowing the star players to play their RIGHT roles. Reus is NOT a winger or someone in midfield. He is an ATTACKING midfielder that must be given the license to bring the ball forward. If that can happen....maybe...just maybe....fourth time's a charm for Low.
