The WEAKNESS in Pep's Bayern's Armor is Revealed by....MOYES..of all people

They all said they would get beat. Trounced. SHANKED. HUSTLED. BULLIED. EMBARRASSED. But the Scotsman did what he hasn't done for a whole season. He put his ego in check and he identified the strengths and weakness of the opponent and he adjusted his team to it. This was not the cowboy, gung-ho United...but a DEFENSIVE setup that tried to counter through the speed of Welbeck.

In that first half, Bayern had all the possession and there was pretty much ALMOST no threat from United. All Bayern had to do was take a shot. You know, try and shoot the ball and get it in the net? But nope, they passed and passed...and...passed...and...yeah, that's what they pretty much did.

United followed the Mourinho school. They sat back deep, and just closed down the spaces and restricted the threats from the key players. This showed why this tiki-tac-toe is really not a philosophy that ought to be championed. IF, the Heynckes team were on that pitch, they would be up by at LEAST two goals already. It was a wounder United team who were there for the taking. A team who have struggled to beat lesser teams on their own grass. Bayern HAD THEM, but did not pull the switch.

Not a fan of Welbeck's at all. I would pick Hernandez over him every time. And that chance...IF Hernandez was given that same chance, I would put a bit of cash down in that ending up as a goal. Welbeck chose the wrong crack by trying to CHIP the best goalkeeper in the world. He HAD to choose a side, and just try and slot it away and see what happened.

But Welbeck was a problem for Bayern. His quick turns, and his speed showed that Bayern do have a weakness that Dortmund have exploited many times. Their backline just can't deal with speed and the ball being moved quickly. The problem for United is they could not keep the ball well, and Bayern just positioned themselves in areas to win tackles and gain interceptions.

Bayern at home, really should be able to put the sword into United. They are the better team, better players, better coached. Logic would say they win the second leg 3-1. But what happened to logic when Chelsea came through with ten men against Barcelona in their stadium? Or when Greece won it all in 2004? Or when Liverpool came from THREE GOALS down in the first half to end up lifting the trophy?

This is football, and anything can go down in that second leg. I am sticking with United shocking everyone and winning the whole thing, but I am not going to put my own money down on that. No way. But Pep will have to think long and hard about he sets up against United. They are in the lead, and they are at home....but all United need to do is score, and keep scoring.

Possession of the football has never mattered in this game. You could see that Bayern ended up scoring, once they put their foot down and just went AT United, without passing it around for fun.

This is a sport of who scores more. It doesn't matter HOW you do it, all that matters is WHETHER you do it. Simple as pecan pie and it ain't complicated.
