BALE, RAMOS AND THE SUPERSTAR DI MARIA COMBINE FOR MADRID TO CONQUER ATLETICO AND EUROPE FOR THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PRIZE
They were almost down and out, for yet another failure after coming so close. But that man again...not the one from Portugal....but the one from that small place south of England called Wales. He was the one that stepped up and SCORED that important goal that was the signed, sealed and delivered package that gave Madrid this title that they coveted SO much.
Atletico were so close. They put forth one of THE great defensive displays, with Godin, Juan Fran, Miranda and Gabi being tackling demons and ROCKS at the back. It was Godin who again somehow, put them in the lead, and from then on....it just seemed like Real were not going to score.
Simeone had done his homework late night while sniffing cocaine (look at his dress-code if you think I'm bullshitting). He nullified all those threats, gave Bale no space and SUFFOCATED Benzema, whilst that guy from Portugal was just there to spectate. It looked to be a good old HARD-FOUGHT one goal victory...until that most unlikely hero came up AGAIN to save Real when they looked to be dead, buried and jettisoned off to oblivion.
Ramos ROSE like a dragon, and you have to watch the replay again to see how FAR OUT this guy is, and the technique on the header, and the finish to beat one of the best keepers out there. It was an incredible equalizer, and from then on....Real were ready to pounce on Atletico.
The soldiers in red and white stripes had grown weary, tired and exhausted. Real HAD to capitalize and not let this slip to the gamble that is penalties. In order to do this, the game needed a hero. A player that would take it upon himself to change the flow of the game and put the final dagger in the great beast of a heart that Atletico had.
Di Maria was one of the best players on the pitch. This boy from Argentina has shown that he is not a player of this era, but one of years gone by. He is that old-skool player who will run with the ball and DRIBBLE. It was his willingness to go AT the Atletico players, take TWO players out of the game and create the chance through his saved shot for the incredible Bale to finish off.
No point in talking about the two other goals because the Ramos and Di Maria goals were the real turning points that gave Madrid the trophy they wanted. But more HAS to be said about Di Maria. This guy has proven too many times that he is a game-changer with goals, assists and just his general play. He was the ONE player in the whole match that was a constant threat for Madrid, and I think his praises should be made known...and I shall be the first to do so.
The Final started cagey, and looked to be tight all the way to penalties. But that Atletico goal brought out the best in Real who showed both the desire AND the skill to come from behind, staring at the glum face of defeat and failure, rise to the challenge and CLAIM THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TROPHY.
Ten times. Mission complete. And Bale...first season...TWO trophies...TWO goals in TWO finals. Pretty good investment, I'd say....
