It is not the Brazil that gave birth to beautiful football and made the game a joy to watch to millions.
This is NOT Brazil.
When you think of Brazil; what is the first thing you think of? Scratch that. When you thought of Brazil fifteen years ago, what was the first thing you though of?
Samba football. A blend of attacking flair and gung-ho free football. Where wing backs would end up in the penalty-area and individual superstars would take over the game with amazing skill. It was the strategy and ideology that brought them five world cups. A different approach to the game that was at odds with the European focus on passing and teamplay.
But there's always got to be one clever dude who thinks he knows it all. One guy who believes he is above an ideology that has been set in stone for decades. Yep, Dunga, a former World Cup winner who now has his second chance as manager has turned Brazil into the most boring team to watch at the Copa America. No, that was no typo...they are the most BORING team to watch at the Copa America now. To even utter those words when we all know the amount of legends that the South-American tropic country has given us, makes me want to throw up.
This all began during Dunga's first stint. When he took over Brazil, he delivered the Copa America by totalling Argentina in the final which already got people on his side. Then he won the Confederations Cup, although there were early signs. Normally, you would sit back with a tub of ice cream and pancake and watch as Brazil would roast USA. But USA actually were two up on halftime, and Brazil had to claw back three goals to win. I ignored the win and focused on how tepid Brazil were in attack.
Then came time for the 2010 World Cup squad and what made me forever loathe Dunga and forget his 94 triumph. Ronaldinho; was ready for one last bow. After his amazing 2002 cup, disappointing 2006, he deserved one last chance to finally say goodbye and make amends for what happened in Germany. For no inexplicable reason, Dunga did not select him. This caused ripples throughout the world and reached me, thus began the Football Hut.
To say I was sickened and depressed would be two understatements. I literally wanted to beat up Dunga. To deny me of seeing Dinho at a world cup in Africa deeply hurt me, and made me despise Dunga. But if he had won the World Cup with Brazil, his omission of one of the most unique footballers the game has seen would be justified. Suffice to say, he failed at the quarters with no improvement on 2006, and he was ousted. I truly believe the football gods did not want a world in which a defensive counter-attacking Brazil would win the World Cup. Some things just go against the very nature of the world. Imagine what would have happened to the future of Brazilian football if Brazil had won that World Cup? A whole entire ideology scrapped for a new "winning" one.
Now comes to this Copa America where we are at a stage where Brazil are struggling to overcome Venezuela. Without Neymar, they are at BEST, an average bunch of clowns...apart from my guy Robinho. It is very sad to see Brazil play so timidly in attack, afraid to commit players, and put so much emphasis on defence. It is a very European ethos and should have no business coming anywhere near South America, let alone Brazil. For these imposters lead by the biggest swindler to win the Copa would again bring the one thing that would make my head turn to ash....Brazil ditching their samba style for the defensive approach, all in the name of winning.
For Brazil, it was never just about winning, but HOW they won. Dunga can't just waltz in and change that.
