He's screwed.
Well...not entirely, but halfely (or halfly, or half ly). Look, it's time to stop beating round the blueberry bush and tell it like it is. Mario Gotze is one of Germany's brightest talents, and he's being wasted under the tutelage of Pep at Bayern. The longer he stays in that system that clearly does not suit him, the deeper the damage will be to him.
The real issue is not Bayern or Pep, or even the fact I can't get my lifetime supply of banana splits (different tale for another day). But it's really the fact that Gotze looks like he will force himself to stay and see this out. In his mind, a young mind, he has joined the biggest club in his homeland and is playing under one of the "best" coaches in the world. For him, why would he want to leave? Why go back to Dortmund which would be a step back?
This is where a wiser agent or family member has to step in for the good of this dude. They need to tell him that it's not about moving to the biggest club but the RIGHT club. All that matters is being in an environment that suits your style of play. The possession system is at total odds with Mario who likes to play quicker. In this system, he looks lost and totally ineffective. He may have one good game, and then brick it up for five others. Now it's at a stage where he can only be a part-time player and nothing more.
He needs to make a decision. The right one is leaving Bayern now, to stop the bleeding. Look at Falcao. Once one of the most lethal strikers in the world, but now a shadow who just drifts through matches having zero effect. Gotze has to avoid that because when you lose your way, it takes a long time to find it. Some do, after a billion years like Blondie and others don't, like Balotelli. Personally, for a player to score a goal like that at a World Cup final, I don't want any part of him resembling anything close to a brick and it would bring tears to my eyes if I had to induct him into the brick academy.
Mario...get your ass out of there!
