Chicharito's Transfer to Leverkusen is a GREAT Move
Yes. YES. YES.
How much more can a man suffer? For how long can you leave a guy to rot on a bench? How much more pain must you inflict before he reacts and starts eating people? I'm serious. I find it incredible how Hernandez has been on the bench at United whilst Rooney is being played ahead of him.
Unlike Gotze, Hernandez has some pride in himself and actually wants to earn his wage. So when Leverkusen came up with an offer, he was more than happy to leave. And when you know who the German team has as their striker, anyone with a football brain will know that he must go straight into the starting lineup without a hint of dissent.
I have to tell you, as a football fan, one of the worst things to see is when a really good player is left on the bench. As a football lover, you are denied the chance to see that player's skills, determination and love for the game being displayed on the pitch. Hernandez has ALWAYS had all three of these which is why I have always loved watching him as well as his exuberant passion for the game.
He gives his ALL, but with this, he has incredibly good instinct and has always been a threat in front of goal. It's not just all passion, but it's mixed with a very good striker that if given the chance and the love, will get you goals. That is not the kind of player that you sell or let go. Once you have him, you must do your best to keep him and persist with him...which United never did.
Can't really just go out on a limb and say he will be an instant success. He has to learn how German football is played and needs to know his teammates. But the Leverkusen play is very positive, and they constantly push the ball forward. So I can imagine him, making those sharp darting runs that Kiebling just doesn't make. He's also faster, and sharper and can add an extra dimension to their play that they have not previously had. He can also now play in the Champions League for Leverkusen and he will be a very good addition for them in what is a really tough group that has both Barcelona and Roma.
I really hope he's a success. He deserves it. Teams have never appreciated him, and his national team career has suffered for it. With Di Maria already getting into the groove with PSG after giving Lavezzi that great assist, if Hernandez was to score a goal or two on his debut...what will that say about Van Gaal and how much pressure will Rooney now be under to deliver?
