Did Di Maria Quit on Man United?

I still can't believe that the most expensive player in the Premiership left after only one season. Don't think any like that has happened before, but I'm not worried....things in football like this will only get worse before...nah, they'll only get worse. Sue me, I'm a forward-thinking pessimist. But to Di Maria, I am still trying to wrap my head around how and why he would leave United after only one season.

Moving to PSG does not concern me because I get it. It's the cool new project now in football, and yes, it's a combination of moving for that cash as well as trying to build a multi-million force to combat Barcelona, Madrid and Bayern. The thing I want to find out is why Di Maria would leave, how much Van Gaal could have done with this transfer and if Di Maria could have really taken over the Premiership if he had stayed for this season. After all, last year was Va Gaal trying to clean up the large mess that the great Moyes had created, and it was only at the end of the season that he had the team playing his way. So the thought process was that with Depay and Schweinsteiger, along with the Argentine dynamic winger, then United could possibly win the title and even make a shout in the Champions league as well.

I heard about Di Maria having personal issues, and I can't say how much that may have contributed to this, but it's a bit harsh to jump to this conclusion of Di Maria quitting on United. From the outside it does look like that. Moving to such a huge club, for so much money and being hailed as the superstar player, it does appear like giving up by just hitching a ride to another club after only a year. Because Di Maria started off great and that was where I talked of choosing him over Messi in my team and predicting that he would be player of the season. Then the injury hit, and once he came back, he just lost something. That is where I have to bring up the aspect of the personal problems he had, because it did not make sense how he just suddenly became ineffective. He couldn't get past any players and almost every decision he made was the wrong one. That is evidence of something going on in a player's head that is not allowing him to be the player that he should be.

So the question is, did the Angelic Argentine just say "screw this" when times became hard, or was it more a case where he did not like the environment and was at odds with Van Gaal?

There is more than enough evidence out there to show that Van Gaal is not exactly the most heartwarming
soul out there. If he does not like you, just like Mourinho, he will make you know about it and is not one to try and accommodate someone and drink coffee and eat ice-cream with. So I am thinking there could have been some bad blood between Van Gaal and Di Maria and that could have lead to both men realizing it would be best he went. Because nobody is addressing a very important factor in this whole saga, and that is what little fight Van Gaal put up to try and keep Di Maria. There was no talk of denying the transfer and insisting that he is a United player, as you would expect. That shows that Van Gaal did not see Di Maria as someone who could be part of his system, as Ashley Young is someone who could perhaps be better suited to his philosophy. With that knowledge, can we still really say Van Gaal quit on United and left the club hanging when he was wanted by the manager?

I will always believe in Di Maria. The way he plays football and how he operates on that wing, is something that I admire and he is the kind of footballer that will always be on my team. Even with that joker Blanc, Di Maria will make PSG stronger and who knows, he may even add that critical attacking threat that may make them go further in the Champions League despite Blanc's tactics. But it's unfortunate that the Premiership did not get to see a very talented winger who could really popped things off and would have made the league more exciting.

David Jeremiah Moyes.....remember the name.
