Brendan Rodgers Needs to hand in his Resignation from Liverpool

It's over. His time is done. There is nothing more Rodgers can do for Liverpool to take them back to the top four, which is where they ought to be. How long can a man live off a season in which no silverware was actually won? I would get it if Liverpool had won the league that year with the Cannibal, and given Gerrard his first ever Premiership title. But they didn't, and Rodgers is somehow still the manager of a club that don't look like they are going anywhere and have fallen off drastically since two seasons ago.

I've always liked to use my favorite comparison of mangers and coaches, and this very much applies to
Brendan in this situation. Rodgers is a really good coach, and he showed that in the kind of attractive attacking football that Liverpool played two seasons ago. That is the mark of a good coach, who has a clear tactical idea and can execute it in a manner that brings about results. A good manager is someone who knows how to adapt and adjust. A good manager does have their one tactic and strategy that they want their team to always play with, but if that does not work in a match, they know how to change things up. A manager has a plan B, C, and X. They can read situations in matches and make the necessary adjustments.

What Liverpool need right now is an experience manager. Someone who can really sort the team out from top to bottom. Rodgers is viewing things only though a microcosm and does not see the defensive problems, he doesn't have an alternative strategy for when Coutinho is out, and there is no midfield presence whatsoever in the team. These are things that a manager ought to see and act upon by bringing the right players to plug those holes or giving new instructions to players so they can change the shape and the manner that they move around the pitch, and pass the ball. The longer that Rodgers stays at Liverpool, with the other teams getting stronger and stronger, the harder it will be for them. Also, this would be a great chance for Liverpool to actually do well. With Chelsea struggling, Arsenal not looking so great and the very unpredictable nature of Man United, Rodgers picked the wrong time to put out one of the worst ever Liverpool performances in recent memory.

The only thing that Rodgers can do right now is to resign. He needs to cut the crap, of lying to the public, papering over the cracks, and just admit his mistakes. From then, he needs to make the necessary step of walking away from a job that he's simply not equipped to perform. The players that he's bought have been more flops than stars, and there is no evidence to say he has what it takes  to make Liverpool a top four team. If he doesn't resign, then it's up to the board, to make it happen and relieve Brendan of his services. You can't keep living off what you did two seasons ago. This is the results business, and you're only as good as you're last match.
