Dybala is the ONLY Attacking threat for Juventus...which SUCKS
New match, same story for this new Juventus. They are in some deep sugar. This is not a championship-winning team. This many not even be a team that I would put money on to finish in the top four. The Pirlo, Vidal and Tevez losses have broken their spine, and without one, you can't walk. Juventus are a team void of any real foundation or strategy and Chievo should have come away as winners in that match to make their situation much worse, but it was Juve's only attacking piece of quality that got them a point with his penalty. The point we have now reached is the great Juventus are now relying on a 21 year old to get them up the table. That is NOT good.
Dybala is a really good player. His control, movement with the ball, balance and the ability to take the game to the opponent are all top of the tree. Ideally, having him partnered up with Tevez would be a dream to watch. Both being Argentine, and both being very gifted players with the ball as strikers. The reality is Tevez isn't here and it's far too much to ask of a 21 year old to be the sole-deliverer of a team as mighty as Juventus. That is not realistic, it is not professional and it will not help Juventus at all claim back their title. The kid is very good, but not close to the intensity or effectiveness of Tevez...but that can come with age.
Watching Juventus in these three games, it's just been worrying what their attack has looked like. They definitely huffed and puffed and tried to use all the elements at their disposal to break down Chievo, but there was a quality missing. You can have all the effort in the world, but that alone cannot win you football matches. This game is about skill and technique, and Juventus have lost a large chunk of that with the departures.
A man like Pogba does posses these skills but he cannot do it all on his own. He is not yet at the level where he can control a whole match by himself. That is why Vidal and Pirlo were so useful as they took the spotlight off him and they all shared the workload to make an excellent midfield presence. So if you have a midfield that isn't legit, then your attack will suffer. You will get the very unwanted sights of your attacking players having to come back to receive the ball which messes up the whole shape of the team.
Until January comes, Allegri needs to have Mandzukic as the sole target-man striker and have Dybala actually play somewhat of a free-role. Him combining with Marchisio in the hole where Pogba can hold that central midfield position and supply balls to them, may be the best strategy right now. Dybala needs to have more touches with the ball, and should be the one hitting it out wide, trying to create opportunities and really get the team going. Just having him as a pure striker that is at the mercy of the midfield, will not make the best use of him. Allegri has to get him in the game, and use him as a point-man that can open up defenses. Right now, there is no clear defined strategy for Juventus. It's just trying to go and get a goal without an actual plan as to how they will go about doing that.
I repeat...Juventus are in SERIOUS trouble.
