Why are City going for Sané? When they have Kelechi?

City are going to get busy this month, as they look to expand even further on their squad to claim back the Premiership. Leicester look to be fading, so it's about keeping United at bay and hunting down Arsenal, piling on the pressure by giving more assist to the quality they already have.

The up and coming player now in Germany is the kid Sané, who is pretty much the only worthwhile attacking threat of Schalke. Without him, they wouldn't be as high as they are in the league. He has a natural attacking instinct, some nice skills, and would fit very well at City as he is in the same mould as De Bruyne and Sterling.

But what about my man Kelechi? What becomes of him?

He was brought in as the understudy to Bony and Aguero. At least I thought that was the plan. But the thinking may be that Pellegrini is not convinced with the production he's getting from Bony, and who can blame him. So he wants  Sané to be the second-choice striker if Aguero, most likely, gets injured. That means even less playing time for Kelechi.

If this is true, it's a very bad move for Pellegrini. I'm not even being biased here, but City are not lacking in the striking department. As I've said. Bony can't play as a lone striker, but putting him with Aguero or Kelechi would be the better option. Also, Kelechi hasn't even had enough chances to prove that he should be second to Aguero in the pecking order. Bony has had so many opportunities to prove himself and he's come up short almost every single time.

I don't think City need Sané. If he was to move, it would be the wrong one to make. He can't be guaranteed playing time and my advice to these young players is to be at a club where you are guaranteed to start. That is the only way you can develop because warming the bench has not yet scientifically been proven to make you a better football player.
