Ah, well we all remember Suarez's desire to have his dinner on a football match that led to his ban. Well, we all hope he has had enough to eat because he returns tonight to a Liverpool team that has been doing pretty well without him. Rodgers has been lamenting and singing and....just talking a lot about how ready Suarez is to play. We'll see....but how much of an impact can he make?
Last season, Suarez was one of the best players. Despite his racist jibes and cannibalism, he scored some amazing goals and conducted some magical football. He is Liverpool's STAR player, but with Sturridge looking a killer in front of goal and Victor Moses and Coutinho giving Liverpool that creative edge, this could really be a dangerous team. But, they need ALL their players playing. I am of the belief that with Moses, Suarez, Coutinho and Sturridge....Liverpool can win any of the trophies this season...yep, I just said that.
This is the perfect game for Suarez to come back to. It's the cup that not as big as the FA cup, which allows for more freedom...and it's against their rivals who just got DEVOURED AND SPAT OUT by their local rivals. In short, United are there to get taken apart by Suarez....but one can't be too overconfident.
The worst thing a manager can do, which Rodgers has been doing, is assuming that with Suarez coming in, everything will all be fine. That his inclusion will automatically bring success. It doesn't work like that. This is football and anything can happen out there once you cross that white line. A different United may show up, and take down Liverpool. At the end of the day, as good as Suarez is...he ain't a real Ronaldo who could take down a team single-handedly. He needs the right tactics, and the right setup. Then....we may see a team that could make the Premiership very interesting.
