That's the worst thing you can be known as. The nearly men. The almost men. So close but yet so far. It's so much better just either sucking or WINNING it and being known as winners. But that is what Germany have been. They have been favorites in almost every tournament since 2006. For some reason, they keep lacking that final ingredient. They have the talent and they are easily one of the most talented teams in the world right now. But talent alone is not what makes you win...that is where Low must come in and exert his influence.
I don't trust him. Sorry. Yes, he has Germany playing very well and they always show their brilliance in the earlier stages of a tournament. But then when it comes to those crunch matches against Spain or Italy...that is where Low falls short. He did not have a tactical answer in that World Cup semi-final. Neither did he have one in the other Euro semi-final against Italy. Those were two very winnable matches and it required Low being bold and trying different things. He didn't and he saw the talent of his boys fail to make anything happen.
There is another issue rising up which are their defensive frailties. To be involved in a 5-3 match with Sweden is madness, and the 4-4 of their first encounter was just as crazy. Germany are NOT WINNING NOTHING if their defence leaks goals so freely. Without a proven striker, I just don't see them going all the way if they just concede with such ease. But even if Low sorts that out by pairing Boateng and Mertesacker...he has to show his strategic talent when it comes to the semi or maybe the final. I am just not confident he has that skill. Now, Heynckes on the other hand, is the man. I feel that if he was the coach of Germany next summer, I will confidently say they WILL win the World Cup. With the players and the brilliant tactical mind of Heynckes, it would be a combination that NO OTHER nation would be able to manage.
I would love for Low to show me another side of his management. A nation expects and they are getting SICK of being the ALMOST boys. It's time that they finally delivered. They are reaching that age now, and they have played together in enough tournaments to build a chemistry. So Low....NO MORE EXCUSES. BRING BACK THAT DAMN TROPHY.
