A Deserving Award for Victor Moses - 2013 Nigerian Footballer of the Year

There may never be another Okocha ever again. For so long, Nigeria have waited for a player, a star...a SUPERSTAR. He may not be on Okocha's level, but no man, woman or alien can deny that Victor Moses is an incredible talent and was one of the KEY reasons as to why Nigeria won the Nations Cup this year. Ladies and gents, I give you.....MOSES, MOSES, MOSES!

It's a great story, that of Victor's. At just the age of eleven, his parents were killed as a result of the STILL on-going and incredibly stupid war between Muslims and Christians in Nigeria's north, and he was forced to go to Britain with the help of other family. It was in England that he rose through the ranks at Crystal Palace and played for England at junior level. Most would have understood him deciding to represent England after leaving Nigeria so early, with very bad memories. I would have expected him to have been anglocized and been part of the British system. That is where one has to commend Moses. He never forget where he came from, and decided to represent Nigeria and  I think he knows that it is the best decision that he ever made.
Moses is VERY Nigerian in his style of play and the Eagles have not had a player of his quality since the early millenium. His ability on the ball, dribbling skill and body balance is amazing to watch. The way in which he glides past defenders on the wing and aims to head into the penalty box is EXACTLY what Nigeria have been missing. It is truly a sight to behold finally having a PLAYER, and someone Nigeria can look to. Just a shame there is only one of him.

For so long, during the dark years of the Eagles, there was a lack of true talent. It was as if I was watching ghosts, who just labored through each match. It all culminated in Yakubu producing one of the most inexplicable misses in recent memory at the World Cup. With Keshi coming in, and turning the whole team around in a similar manner to Prandelli and Italy, you are now seeing at least SOME of that old magic back. It's the appearance of Moses, and the way in which he adds that attacking dynamic to the team that really carried them over in the Nations Cup. It's a mixture of both the ability and CONFIDENCE to run at defenders and leave them on the floor that has made Moses a darling amongst Nigerians.

All hopes and prayers are that Moses is fit and sharp for the World Cup as he can really shine. He has not always been at his best and disappointed against Ethiopia in both games. I for one believe in his ability and so does Keshi, who picked him. He is ONLY IN HIS EARLY TWENTIES, which means he has not yet his his peak yet. That right there is truly great news and hopefully, far greater awards await jewel of the Super Eagles. Let's just hope Rodgers actually PLAYS him instead of...Jordan Henderson....which is worse than being stabbed in the eye with a needle....sorry, no offence.
