Sad. Keshi started a renaissance. He began something new and fresh, and now he has stepped down. I would jump up and down to beg him to stay. But when you hear about pay disputes, missing training, NFF crap, would YOU stay if all that nonsense was happening?
I never expected much fr
om a very young team at this Cup, and after seeing the World Cup selection...I expected even LESS. But Keshi can hold his head up high as he gave France a game, and showed glimpses of what Nigeria CAN be. Sadly, he just doesn't have the great talent that he was a part of back in the mid 90's.
What is alarming now is where Nigeria go from here. This team was moulded by King Keshi and culminated in the Nations Cup victory. It was he who cleared out the old and wasted that INCLUDED YOBO, and instead kept faith in the youngsters and built a new brand. But with the good always comes the bad where Nigeria are concerned. The darkness that is money crept in, and yet again, disputes over bonuses and where it was going conflicted with plans. Keshi was not involved in this, but it would have affected him, as well as the meddling of the NFF.
I really hope Keshi can move onto to a team and a federation that SUPPORTS him. He deserves more. I may not have agreed with his selection policy which harmed Nigeria, but he is STILL a Nigerian and one of the better Nigerians. So let him go, and give him a system that supports his great talents. He has a knack for this conundrum known as football coaching and whether it be a national team or club team, I will be following and rooting for his success. Nigeria have deep problems and before they figure those issues out, they DON'T deserve someone like Stephen THE KING Keshi.
