Lukaku Made the Right Call Signing with Everton and Martinez

What would you do? Try and force yourself into a "bigger" team that may not fit your style of play, or go with a "smaller" team that builds itself AROUND you? Most footballers, especially those that are younger with as much foresight as my right bum-cheek would choose the former. Thank goodness Romelu has been smart and is doing the best thing for his career.

Mourinho wanted Lukaku to be his new Drogba. The one striker he could rely on to get those goals. Sometimes, it just doesn't work out. Chelsea play VERY differently from Everton. There is a unique skill a player has to have to play as a lone striker. Also, there is an even more specific skill needed for playing as the lone-man in Chelsea's slow and pragmatic flow. Drogba fit it perfectly, and Lukaku is not the same kind of player Didier is.

Everton last season were one of the most exciting teams to watch. Martinez showed how great a coach he was, making a less talented squad compete for fourth all the way. It was a team that fit in perfectly with the Belgian striking kid. The football is fast, quick, and Lukaku has a strike partner to play off which just looked to be perfect for him.

I really thought Lukaku would remain with Chelsea or even just extend his loan in the hope of breaking into the team. The craze is to try and prove yourself in a "big" team, and enjoy the riches. But Lukaku made a footballing decision. He has gone with a team where he WILL be one of the first names on the teamsheet. It's also a team that perfectly suits him and after just one season, the FANS love him. End of the day, a little love never killed anyone...well maybe...just a few people....

With this signing, Barkley extending that contract, Everton ain't looking too bad. I believe in strikers. If Everton would be so daring as to get an upgrade on Naismith, then the boys in blue could be in serious business.
