That should sum up my feeling when I heard and saw what happened after the penalties. I tuned off after the final whistle as I assumed Bayern would close out the game on penalties. Yeah yeah, I KNOW it's penalties and anything can happen but I honestly believed there would be no way Dortmund would end up knocking out Bayern at the CRIBB.
Let's be honest here, Bayern may have pillaged Dortmund of their talent, but the Munchen boys SCHOOLED Dortmund who were crap. How Bayern did not win the game by at least three g's is beyond me. And as some Bayern fans have commented, that is perhaps one of their weaknesses....they can't kill off games....but their Spanish opponents next week KNOW how to sugar that booty.
Dortmund did not have a good game. Usually, they are able to put pressure on Bayern with super-dragon tempo football but last night, they sucked....to put it bluntly. That is of course, before they equalised. But before then, I actually had to ask people how many G's Lewandowski had scored against his former club. Last night made three which just rubbed a mountain supply of salt into the wound. And Robert is now showing his lethal finishing power and ability....which is why he came to replace Zukic.
Bayern were all over Dortmund. Boateng was excellent at the back, as expected Thiago danced and moonwalked in midfield, and the only team creating any chances were Bayern. And, I'll call him the Rak, who was in goal for Dortmund needs to play more games as he is easily better than the overrated Weidenflopper. He made some good saves, and one great one from Bastian. But, Bayern had to kill the game off and Pep and the players have to take responsibility for that.
I thought Arsenal would be the only team I would rant about passing the ball too many times, but Bayern just did not want to shoot or take the shorter route to goal. They were maybe far too comfortable with the one goal lead that they did not have enough urge and push to lay the smackdown on Dortmund. And like how these matches always seem to go, all the other team needs is just that once chance...
Funny thing is when Dortmund scored they actually came alive and the Roooooooooose made Neuer show why he is one of the best stoppers in the world. But I still thought Bayern would have had the edge over Dortmund and get the late goal....
As for the penalties...let's just say my boy Kloppo took a visit to some witchdoctors before the game....all I can say on that.....
