Can Tottenham Finally Move Upward after City PIMP-SLAP?

When will Spurs get tired of underachieving and finally stand toe to toe with their city rivals?

Seems that for so long, Tottenham have flirted with hitting the top four and perhaps even hinting at trying to be a dark horse for the title. This lasts for about three quarters for the season then when March or April comes and the points now means something, they end up just fading away. It's frustrating because they should really be a lot better than the positions than they end up in.

Two goals that Spurs scored should have been called for offside, but in the end, you would say they deserved the prime cheddar. City being the team at the top, at the time, and with the players, should have won this game against a team that while talented, are still foetuses.

At the end of the day, the scoreline is the scoreline. City got beat and they got beat very bad. This was a huge win for Tottenham after suffering pretty bad beatings from City before, it was good that they turned things around. This isn't about Kane, and having the spotlight on him rather than the team won't help them going forward. It was a victory where the entire team has to be commended and Pochettino will need all eleven men to play at their highest level to put a bit of pressure on Arsenal who may linger down in that last Champions League position.

If Spurs now go and lose against Sunderland or Watford, then this great result would have all been for nothing. Their next five, six games will be vital for them. This is the kind of victory that can force your mindset into a winning one which can lead into a winning run. Stuttering with a mixed bag of wins, losses and draws will do Tottenham no good. It's getting boring seeing them almost come fourth, almost give Arsenal a proper rivalry, but only to fail when it really matters. This can be a turning point for them as a club.

Let's be real, this was a shocking victory. Spurs, with their players, have no business beating City with the kind of guys they have. But, their players are good enough to offer a realistic challenge to Arsenal or maybe United for fourth, depending how this rather strange season will end up in May.

I repeat, Kane is not their answer for how well they will do this season, as I have not yet seen anything to convince me that it was purely a case of being a one-season wonder. Players like Eriksen and Lamela have the skills to really make Tottenham an attacking force that will be too good for the teams in the lower half of the table. At the end of the day, this is a marathon and not a sprint....those so-called big teams are losing to ones that Spurs themselves should be beating. If they can beat the clubs that they should, and they can stand up to Arsenal, United and Chelsea as they did against City, then their league position will look a lot better than it has done in recent seasons.
