A SUPERB Achievement for Wales and Bale getting to Euros! Go Sheep!
Amazing.
I need you to stop reading this for a minute, and look up Wales on a map, and look at the size of the country. THAT country just managed to get themselves into the Euros. Okay, it's made easier with the top two teams, but to still finish ahead of other teams that ought to do more based on the amount of people in their country AND experience, it makes this a monumental achievement.
These are the kinds of stories that make football worth following. Because it's not just about seeing the big teams, and nations win time and time again. We all love Brazil (prior to 7-1), Germany, Chile, Argentina and so forth but to see the small nations rise up and defeat Goliath, is something different and shows again that you can never predict football. It's not a science where 1 + 1 = 2.
And what about the BALE.
Out of all the people there are in Wales, it's quite incredible they are able to produce two of the best players in the whole of Britain. It's unfortunate that Giggs never got the chance to take Wales to a Euros or World Cup, but Wales struck luck again with Gareth Bale who may not be as technically gifted as Giggs, but is definitely a lot more effective and has that X-Factor. With the chance of possibly seeing what he can do with Wales next year will be a true pleasure. You can have all the success you want with your club and all the Champions League Medals...but nothing will ever measure up to achieving greatness with your country.
Wales should not bother turning up to the Euros without Bale. Ramsey is important and they have a few good players, but Bale is the KEY man, and will determine how far they can go in France next year. Let's just be real here, even if Bale goes ballistic and enters Beast-Mode, it won't be enough for them to win the Euros because there is still Germany and France who are both really good teams and will know how to keep Bale quiet. It's really just about seeing what they can do, and just the very experience of seeing a country as tiny as Wales in the Euros. That's just what excites me. I've been to Wales and I know a few Welsh people. What they have achieved in Rugby, their primary sport, is superb. Outside of the big nations of New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and France; they would be in the second bracket of teams. Now, they can add football to their checklist of achievements.
What if though....not saying they will....but what if Bale is fit, plays the tournament of his life and can somehow have the tournament of his life?
What if Wales...
Nah...
