I don't give a CRAP about Cristiano Ronaldo's Personal Life!
So I'm looking through Twitter, just to get some football news and see what I want comment on for my blog. Now the key word here is FOOTBALL. If I wanted to find out about furniture, I know where to look, or I wanted to get myself a new kitten, I would have to venture in alternative places. So when I want to only find out about football, surely I should start looking at football sites as they are the ones that should comment about...wait for it....football!
I suppose it happens in life that you shouldn't always follow or go with the biggest name. Apple and Microsoft may be the most dominant forces in computers, but I have a Chromebook and I am pretty happy with it. Iphone is pretty much THE phone to get, but I've got myself an Android and that suits me just fine and does what I need. So when you have Goal and Soccernet, two giants of football reporting, I should have followed the trend in assuming that there is an alternative that is better than them.
We all make mistakes, and the foolish one in me followed these news sources who seem more interested in the personal life of Cristiano than actually reporting on football. Under no circumstance should a football news organization have a headline about a player's personal life, or what new underwear they will launch. It's the same with movie stars or musicians. The reason we give two craps about them is because of their talent, not how they live behind closed doors. I really do not know how knowing about the child of a football player will be of any benefit to me. I'm trying to think..and I am drawing a blank.
But there are people that do. Goal and Soccernet would not spend time digging these stories up if nobody was interested. And I think that is just the saddest thing. People who claim to be passionate about football, and call themselves fans will actually sit down and read about a player partying, or the status of his girlfriend or what his wife is up to. I'm sorry, but I will come right out and say that is what losers do. You shouldn't invest any time in what someone else is doing in their own personal life. If you appreciate someone as a footballer, focus on their talent in that sport. Because in case nobody has realized; a great footballer does not make a great mind.
I will still head to Goal and Soccernet because occasionally they do write insightful pieces, and it's a place I can quickly look at the latest news happening. But I am calling them out on it, any time they put out some bull about Cristiano's new car, or a celebration on his yacht. To stoop so low as to have a headline on a football site about a player's son forgetting his own name, is mind-numbing. I guess, if idiots will click on it, what can you do?
I prefer to stick to football....unless an army of aliens invaded a football match, then perhaps I would have to throw my five cents on that.
