WHY IS VAN PERSIE AHEAD OF HUNTELAAR IN THE STARTING LINEUP??!!!!
You really have to ask yourself why people sometimes do completely and utterly idiotic things.
Why do people go snowboarding off a steep cliff?
Why do trolls....troll?
Why does a world-class BRICK start ahead of a very good striker?
Let us look at the third query. Erm, I'm not sure whether any of you have noticed or not, but Van Persie is garbage football player as of now. I am not talking about years ago, I am referring to the football player of 2015. He is completely and utterly awful. A man who has lost all sense of touch, skill and confidence in front of goal. In other words, he is a brick, to put it very simply.
Then we now have a dude called Huntelaar. Schalke are an average team. They won't be winning the
Bundesliga or making a squeak in the Champions League in the next decade or so. Despite how ordinary this team is, albeit with a few exciting players I have been able to watch, Huntelaar still gets it done and gets a good number of goals. He is a pretty good finisher, with the anticipation required of a box-player. In other words, there should be no debate as to who is Holland's number one striker.
Surely, one of Holland's best finishers should be starting ahead of a brick.
Nope. Seems people are lot more intelligent than all of us, because Huntelaar is either rotting on the bench or has to come off it to try and save the game. Some imbecile made Van Persie the captain, which means that he has to play, and is wasting a vital spot for the Dutch team. You really have to shudder at the fact that there are professionals out there who get paid to put the best eleven for an entire country and they somehow have Van Persie on there, a man who shouldn't even be in the squad.
If Holland end up botching up this qualification by not even making it into the playoffs tomorrow; then this decision would be one of the main reasons it happened. I am more than convinced that if Huntelaar was the starting striker, the opportunities that fell to Van Persie in this qualification campaign would have been put away by the Schalke man. Having a striker that actually knows how to put the ball in the net and doesn't move as if two anvils are tied to their ankles, makes a big difference. Holland may have had some serious defensive issues, but there is always the philosophy of outscoring your opponent, which is scientifically impossible with Van Persie in your frontline.
It's just sad that Huntelaar could have been more involved in the 2010 World Cup, 2012 Euros and even the World Cup last year. But for some reason, the powers-that-be have put their personal alliances over the good of the team, and a nation. Van Persie is liked by the coaches, and that is why he was made captain and starts. In the sport of football, this crap should never be allowed. Football should ALWAYS be a meritocracy. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a fool.
